While Jane and Roman go after the microchip, Nas and Weller track down Douglas Winter and Reade and Zapata are knee deep in a cover up
“Her Spy’s Harmed” picks off right where we left off
– Zapata walking in on Reade standing over Coach Jones body. But Reade says he didn’t
do it; he was down in the basement when he heard a noise, ran up the stairs and
found him dead. Reade wants to call in the homicide but Zapata says no one will
believe him – he broke into his house wearing gloves and is literally standing over Jones’ dead body
with blood on his shoes. For once, its easy to agree with Zapata.
Reade remembers that he left the tape with his name
on it in the VCR and wants to go back for it but again Zapata tells him that is
a bad idea. She thinks they should come back when his house becomes an official
crime scene. They go to Reade’s home to wash off when Zapata noticed that one
of Reade’s knives is missing (Jones had multiple stab wounds). Reade’s defense is
that the knife got spoilt, he threw it out and didn’t bother to replace it
because he eats take out. Its also kind of important to note that they had this
conversation half naked and none of them checked out the other person – not even
a little bit. Looks like we’ve got agape love going on here.
Back at the FBI, Patterson has succeeded in cracking
one of Mayfair’s images that led them to Douglas Winter. The image is filled
with several junk mails except that mail written in Bulgarian he sent to
someone which hinted that he was in a hotel in Bulgaria. They get agents to
interrogate Winter’s girlfriend but she says she hasn’t seen him in years. Nas and
Weller decide to go to Bulgaria to find Winter but Jane cant go because Roman
called her in. Weller believes the part of the mail which read “my fair lady” might
have been addressed to Mayfair and not his girlfriend.
In Bulgaria, Nas and Weller find Winter quite easily
– thanks to his telling code mail. But they’re not the only ones there –
Assistant Director of the CIA (Keaton) is there too. Weller and Nas break into
Winter’s room and there he tells them that he didn’t leak any classified intel;
he was framed and he ran to Bulgaria for protection but now Bulgaria is keeping
him hostage. Kurt asks him if that’s why he sent a code mail to Mayfair and he
says yes. Weller and Nas smuggle him out of the hotel in a big bag and take him
to a safe house.

At the safe house, Winter tells the pair that he
recorded the whole incident of his framing – he was attacked in his home by two
masked people and information was downloaded on his computer. He gives the
frame of his glass (which doubles as a recorder) to the pair and they send it
to Pattterson. Weller brings up Mayfair and when Winter addresses her as a he,
he realizes that he never knew her. Weller is upset by this and sulking in his
room. Nas comes to him and he confides in her that Mayfair had always been the
one he turned to when he wanted answers and now he has no one. Nas says he has
her and then kisses him.
Nas completely takes advantage of Weller’s
vulnerability and the two have sex. Note to Nas: Mayfair didn’t have to sleep with
Weller to make him trust her.
As the two are getting dressed after having miserable sex, the lights go off
and they discover they are under attack. It turns into a shoot out and they
discover Keaton was one of the shooters. He says the attackers are not his guys
and he would very much like to have Winter. Weller says no to this and Keaton that
he will get Winter and give him the Jane Doe treatment. Weller realizes that it
was John who tortured Jane and would have choked him to death if Nas hadn't
stopped him.
At the Headquarters, Patterson is training with
Borden and the latter sweetly says he’s happy whenever they’re together. Their training
gets cut short when Patterson gets and alert that Jones is dead. She calls in
Reade and Zapata and asks them to go check it out. The pair arrive there and
meet an NYPD agent who tells them Jones was stabbed about six times. Reade
distracts him while Zapata goes to get the tape. She’s unable to return it when
she hears voices coming down the stairs and chooses to hide it. Reade is
displeased that she chose to take the tape out and is freaking out. After he
calms down, he tells her that a private security guard saw him outside Jones
house and Zapata says she will take care of it. Her idea of taking care of it? Blackmailing
the security guard by threatening to have his girlfriend deported in exchange
for the note he wrote Reade’s plate number. The producers have to tell us why
Zapata loves Reade so much because she is risking everything for his ungrateful
behind.
Zapata gets the autopsy result and discovers that
Jones died by choking on his own blood and if Reade’s story is correct, he
should have gotten to Jones fast enough to save him. At this, Reade gets
defensive and tells Zapata he didn’t ask her to cover anything up.
Patterson is having
difficulty cleaning up the recording Weller sent and she’s worked up about it.
Borden is trying to spend time with her and sweetly brings her lunch but
Patterson cant spend time because she’s busy working on classified work. She gets
worked up at some point and calls Borden David (her dead boyfriend) and at that
Borden says he will give her space to work and leaves. Patterson later goes to
Borden’s office to apologize and he says he understands and loves that she
loves her work. He leaves the office and Patterson sits down on the couch
exasperated when she notices the bug on the ceiling. She scans it and discovers
its transmitting to Nas’ phone. She calls Weller to tell him that creepy
detail.

Meanwhile, Jane is back with Roman and they're getting ready for the big mission. They leave to go get the chip which
will “put everything in place” and things go according to plan except that
Roman kept wanting to kill people. Jane calls him out on that and Roman says he
doesn’t like to kill and is only a sociopath because she taught him so. Roman tells
Jane he’s willing to die for the mission and the chip is all that matters. Jane
finds the chip while Roman goes to stall the guards. Jane is supposed to
connect the chip to a copier so it transmits to Patterson when she decides
against it because her brother is getting his ass kicked. She also remembered
how Roman got the scar on his face – some kids held him down and ruined his
pretty face by cutting him with a blade.
The two are able to fight (and blow) their way out
of the place and get back to the safe house unharmed. Jane tells Roman that if
she could do it all again, she will choose not to forget him. She opens the puzzle
box and gives it to him and clearly its of great sentimental value because
Roman starts to cry. Jane comforts him and says “I love you Ian” and she looks
like she means it. I literally shed a few tears at this scene.
Jane gets back to the headquarters and Nas is a
little annoyed that Jane got there late and chose to disobey orders by not copying
the chip thereby destroying the entire mission because now Sandstorm has
everything they need. To pacify Nas, Jane tells her that she can turn Roman.
Patterson plays the clean recording and Jane recognizes the two voices as Roman
and Shepherd. So they were the two who framed Winter and most likely the ones
who kept him hostage in Bulgaria and tried to attack Weller and Nas at the safe
house.
Weller also recognizes Roman’s voice but he can
place where.
Totally
outrageous but workable theories
Reade did see the killer and is covering up for him. Freddy maybe?
Shepherd is Weller’s mother but he doesn’t remember
Weller is behind Sandstorm but his memory was selectively
wiped so he can play a more convincing patsy.
