The last time we saw Barry Allen, he went back in time to save
his mother because being an orphan is too much for The Flash.
In the new timeline Barry created, a lot
has changed but Barry still manages to screw it all up in the end.
Barry has
held Reverse Flash hostage. Barry pays a visit to Eobard Thawne who he
locked in a warehouse and a speed limiting cage. The latter tells Barry that
time will soon catch up with him and the façade he’s living will end.
There’s a
new Flash who’s having difficulties dealing with a rival speedster
called Rival (Edward Clariss). So not only does Barry have his parents back, he
has no responsibilities.
Iris doesn’t
remember Barry’s name: Barry finally sums up the courage to talk to
Iris by stealing her purse and pretending to return it. She recognizes him and
says they went to preschool together. Iris remembers him as Darry. Barry asks
her out for a coffee, a beer or a wine. She calls him cute and says yes but
informs him that he talks a little too fast. Barry responds by saying “speed
has always being my problem”. No woman wants to hear that Barry.
Joe West
is an alcoholic who barely shows up for work and apparently has
mouth odor. Barry tries to make flimsy excuses for Joe’s absence but ends up
going to his place to bathe him (not creepy at all), dress him up in a suit and
drop him at the office elevator. But alcoholic Joe is anything but grateful and
wants to know why Barry has taken such an interest in him – he clearly is
unaware that Barry has seen him naked.
Joe realizes that Barry is going on a date with Iris and doesn’t
give his blessing. But no one seems to care.
Wally West
is the new Flash (Kid Flash): Iris has to take a rain check on
her date with Barry because of Kid Flash’s fight with Rival. Barry runs to the
scene of the crime and tries to save new flash from falling but fails and the
latter falls right into the dumpster. Barry removes his mask and sees that it’s
Wally.
Wally and
Iris are a brother-sister crime unit: Wally takes Barry to his base of
operations (which is a little lacking and unsecured according to Barry) and
finds Iris there. She reveals that she has been working with her brother to
fight crime and wants to know how Barry recognized her brother. Barry’s
response is that he works for the CSI and everyone is okay with that lame
excuse.
Barry wants to help fight the Rival but Iris says the only
person that can help is Cisco Ramon.
Cisco is
the richest man in America: Cisco has made a chunk load of money from
selling his tech and is a billionaire. Iris goes to him for help and he refuses
because he would rather not fight crime. Barry starts to talk about how Cisco
is a great person when he loses track of what he’s saying.

Barry is
losing his memory: Barry becomes concerned that every time he
focuses on a memory from the past, it starts to fade so he visits Eobard who
tells him that the more he uses his speed, the more his memory fades – and the
Flashpoint timelines becomes more permanent. If Barry keeps using his speed,
the timeline he left would vanish and be impossible to get back to. Barry says
he has everything and would never want to go back.
Caitlyn
is a pediatric eye doctor: Barry confesses to the group (Iris, Ramon
and Wally) that he’s the flash from another timeline to try and get them geared
up but it only makes them confused. Barry realizes that someone is missing,
uses Ramon’s computer and comes back with Caitlyn the scientist.
Only she’s
not, she’s an eye doctor.
Iris loves
Barry: Despite how crazy Barry sounds in Flashpoint, Iris believes
Barry and confesses that he’s been the something missing in her life. Queue the
collective awws
Rival defeated: The
group band together to defeat the Rival and they succeed (thanks to Joe’s
shooting skills) except that Wally is wounded in the process.
Barry
goes back to his timeline: Barry keeps losing more of his memory and
decides to do what must be done. He says goodbye to his happy parents, goes to
the warehouse with Iris, releases Owen and asks him to kill his mother. He and
Iris also shared a kiss.
Barry returns to his timeline (where we left off at Season 2
finale) Eobard tells Barry that everything is back to normal for him but not
for Barry. Barry walks in to the house, asks for Iris and is told that she doesn’t
speak to Joe.
Edward Clariss is awakened by a voice in his room and watches
as the word “Alchemy” is written on his mirror.
Questions
- How could Eobard tell something was off in Barry's timeline? And why would things change for just Barry and not him?
- Why did the time wraith not come for Barry? In season 2, he went back a couple months in time, didn’t spend up to 3 days and the wraith was screaming at him. But in Flashpoint, he disrupted an entire timeline, stayed three months and still no wraith?
- How is it that Barry has been running with his regular clothes for 2 seasons? In season 1, anytime he tried that, his clothes would catch fire. Did he get custom-made clothes from Woolworth or is Ramon also a fashion designer?
- Will Barry try to mess with time again now that he managed to mess up the only family he has left
