Old characters are back and it makes no sense, a new character is introduced and she’s pretty badass.

On Flash Season 3 episode 3 “Magenta”, we see Barry impatient because he has a date and Julian pretty much pulling the seniority card and preventing Barry from leaving before official closing time. Barry takes Iris to an expensive restaurant and the date still doesn’t go so great. Date night get interrupted when they both get a call from Cisco.

Barry and Iris arrive at STAR Labs to discover that one of the breaches to Earth 2 has been opened and someone is coming through. The someone is none other than Harrison Wells and his daughter who’s now a speedster. Wow I’m very shocked by this turn of events.

Turns out Harry brought Jesse to STAR Labs to run some tests – because the man who created a particle accelerator cannot handle something as tough and complicated as running tests on a speedster. Things become even more confusing when Wells reveals that he brought Jesse to Earth 1 so Team Flash could talk her out of being a super hero. Wouldn’t it have been smarter to remain on Earth 2 where she has no super hero influence than bring her to a lab where all they do is superhero-y stuff?

To the interesting part – a girl Frankie has a split personality who has superpowers and she uses those powers to nearly kill her foster father John with a lamp. Joe is interrogating Frankie and she doesn’t recall the incident. Barry thinks a different metahuman threw the lamp at John but thank goodness for Julian who thought otherwise, ran some tests and discovered that Frankie is a metahuman.

Iris and Barry discussing their failed date night

We see a little of Draco Malfoy in Julian when he doesn’t think things through and chooses to goad Frankie who nearly kills him by bending almost every metal in the precinct. Lucky for Julian, Flash was there to save him. The Flash runs after Frankie and calls out to her but she says Frankie is gone and her name is Magenta. Magenta as in Magneta as in female Magneto? Very original.
Anyway, Magenta distracts Barry by lifting a police car over his head and escapes before he’s done saving the driver.

Wells and Jesse are having some predictable moments where papa Wells doesn’t want his precious little daughter running around saving people because he wants to keep her safe. Jesse speeds off when her father says she’s not Barry and Wally (who has been a little bummed that he didn’t get any powers) runs after her. She tells Wally that she got her powers when she almost got hit by a car. This gives Wally the brilliant idea to jump in front of a speeding car. Lucky Super Jesse was there to save him.

Iris tracks down Frankie’s father at the hospital and was able to deduct that Magenta will be back to finish him off. Magneta does that in style by lifiting an entire tanker (which looks to be the size of a small island) and attempting to drop it on the hospital. This girl is pretty badass. Can we get a show called Magneta and cancel The Flash?

Flash is able to stall her by creating some sort of current with his entire body but he cant hold her off for long. Then comes the predictable part where Wells tells Jesse to go join Flash, that he needs her. Pretty sure Team Flash could have handled it but okay. They both save the day and take Frankie to the lab.

Frankie revealed how she got her powers – she dreamed about another life constantly, heard Alchemy’s voice and poof Magenta was born. Wally West seems to be taking some pointers. Barry tells Frankie that if she faces her dark side, she might be able to control Magenta.

At the end of the day, Barry tries another date with Iris and it looks like he booked the entire restaurant because its empty. He tells Iris that their last date was boring because they were not accepting who they really are. After this, he speeds her off to a super romantic spot lit with candles. I would like to know how Barry Allen a CSI analyst can afford all these? Is he robbing banks in his spare time because that would make a very interesting story line.

Papa Wells welcomes Jesse to the superhero life by giving her a custom made suit. Now that its official for Jesse, what will we be calling her? Flash Girl? Speedy Jesse?
