If you’re looking to watch deep shows with complex plots and mind-blowing reveals, you’re reading the wrong piece.

These shows are fluff – something light to watch when you want to watch something without really paying attention to it - basically Pandemic TV; shows you'd hardly give the time of the day if you weren't perpetually stuck at home and mindlessly scrolling through Netflix, looking for something, anything to distract you for a little bit.

1. Emily in Paris

Released in October 2020, Emily in Paris is about, well, Emily. In Paris. Emily is a pretty 20-something-year-old living everybody’s best life in Paris – wearing pretty clothes, going to luxe parties, day drinking, receiving extravagant gifts and having sex with gorgeous men.

While fans and critics have pointed out some inconsistencies and overdone clichés in the show, Emily in Paris remains a great escapist or feel-good show and is perfect to wind down to after a long day or week.

2. Bridgerton

Released December 2020, Bridgerton is set in Regency London and the first season follows Daphne Bridgerton as she seeks to find love in a society where love is treated like a game of strategy.

There’s a lot going on in the show while truly nothing is going on. Watch women artlessly orchestrate events so men can fawn over them, watch the crème de la crème of London repeatedly use information as a weapon and watch Daphne win the man she wants, against all odds and definitely against the wishes of the man.

There are no surprises in this show and it’s more about the dreamy eyes of lead actor Regé Jean Page (and how well he licks a spoon) and the occasional close-ups of butts; so it’s a perfect show to watch while you do something else. – like send emails or do chores.

3. Fate; The Winx Saga

Released in January 2020 (and compared to Vampire Diaries by E!), Fate; The Winx Saga follows emo Bloom as she joins a magical school in order to learn how to control her powers. Despite being a supernatural drama, the show is quite heavy on muggle drama as Bloom navigates having girlfriends for the first time and being in a confused love triangle.

While a lot of character development seems to be happening off-screen, you may find yourself wondering what business the show has been some minutes shy of an hour or whether Alfea School of Magic is a college or a high school and why there are only 3 teachers in the entire school, it is one of the latest supernatural show and has a nostalgic feel to it (as you wistfully remember when supernatural shows were better).

Also worth mentioning, that Winx Saga is currently most viewed on Netflix, a stat that has left some reviewers utterly befuddled.

Fate; The Winx Saga is a perfect show to watch on nights when you can’t sleep or don’t want to sleep and decide to get on Netflix.
