Lies, mummy issues and a possible snitch.
Wes tells a lie
Wes and his attorney finally have a talk with the NYPD
about that anonymous tip making Wes a suspect in the Wallace Mahoney case. When Wes is asked if he saw
Charles Mahoney at the scene of the shooting, Wes says yes because he felt the
evidence the police had on Charles was not enough for a conviction. “Who shoots
their father and doesn’t get rid of the gun” he says to Annalise. When Wes
starts to stress, Annalise tells him not to worry that Eve has got her ears to
the ground.
That little lie eventually comes back to bite Wes in
an uncomfortable place as Charles Mahoney has an alibi who swears he was miles away
from the scene Wes claims to have seen him at.
The
Legal Clinic’s case
The clinic is defending three siblings who are being
accused of attempting to murder their mother (Edith Duvall) with poison. These three
actually despise their mother (had exchanged texts about ways to possibly
murder her) but swear they had nothing to do with the attempt on their mother’s
life. Edith gained pleasure from embarrassing her children and making them miserable. She also had mean names for them – “Jerky Jared” (because she caught him masturbating once),
“Big Cojones Karen” (because she matured fast and was not allowed to wear bras)
and “Half Nelson” (due to his below average IQ)
Halfway through the deposition, Annalise is stressed
because she can’t drink and she thinks better when she drinks. The Keating Five
find out about Charles’ “solid alibi” and when Wes brings up Eve, Annalise
confesses that Eve is in San Francisco. The Keating Five get angry with their
mommy about her little lie and she tells them to get everything off their chest.
Asides saying she made them unhappy and screwed up,
Michaela thinks Annalise “pimped her out” to Caleb, Asher thinks she’s a bigger
bully than his late father, Connor thinks everything is her fault and Laurel
say Annalise uses her like a "puppet". Everyone but Wes has a go at Annalise – he
says she already knows how he feels. He did shoot her after all.
After the little spat with her ungrateful children,
Annalise is playing the Edith Duvall interview on a loop when she gets the idea that Edith
poisoned herself to teach her kids a lesson. Sure enough when Annalise asks
Laurel to question Edith, her theory pans out and she wins yet another case.
Frank
is back.
Frank is back in Philadelphia and his first stop is
Laurel’s but she is busy having a lot of bedroom action with Wes. These two are
actually having pillow talk – Laurel feels guilty for stealing Meggie’s man and
she’s also scared that her little foray with Wes may be a dream. “I’ve wanted
this since our first day in class” Wes says. We don’t believe you Wes. We just don’t.
Frank makes a second stop at Bonnie's and she wants to
know if he stopped at Laurel’s first. She says she’s tired of being Frank’s
sloppy seconds and Annalise was right about him. She’s clearly still mad at him
for leaving her at the motel and she kicks a tearful Frank out of the house.
Coliver back together?
Oliver’s third date with chiropractor Thomas didn’t go
so well. Thomas is about to go down on Oliver when he says “I’m pos” {HIV positive}. Thomas’
response to this is withdrawal, shock and “I was just really starting to like
you”. What a douchebag!
Oliver full of self pity gets drunk and visits the
one man who didn’t judge him for being pos – Connor. He admits that he’s being
selfish by coming over to tell Connor he misses him. Connor doesn’t care
because he also misses Oliver so these two have safe sex in Michaela’s room –
which she notices because they put her duvet upside down afterwards.
Its convenient how Oliver thought he was going to
break up with Connor and have other guys be just as accepting of his status. But
the minute he finds out Connor was a gem, he’s running back into his arms. Classy!
“Really?”
At the end of the day, Laurel is drunk from
celebrating her A (which Annalise gave for helping to win the deposition). She’s
speaking to Wes and when they’re about to hang up, she says “love you”. She and Wes are shocked at that little slip up. But not as shocked as Frank who snuck back into the house and says “really?”.
Flash
forward:
Laurel wakes up in the hospital unable to speak
(because there’s a hose jammed down her throat). She asks for a pen and a pad
and writes down Wes’ name. Meggie assures her that they’re doing all they can
to find his whereabouts.
How adult of Meggie not to shove the hose farther down
Laurel’s throat.
Turns out Laurel has nothing to worry about as Wes
is alive and snitching on mommy dearest. He signed an immunity deal with the police
in exchange for ratting out Annalise.
Questions
Does Laurel really love Wes or is she working an
angle?
Is Wes really going to rat out Annalise or is it
just one of Annalise’s clever plan to cover up an even bigger screw up?
Who could be under the sheet now that Wes is in the
clear? Connor? Frank? Nate. Its unlikely that Annalise will scream in anguish
for Frank so Nate maybe.
