Team Flash discover H.R. Wells may not have been completely honest with them, Julian and Barry finally bond.

On last week’s episode The New Rogues, Barry took the big boy step and moved out of Joe’s house. Now he’s crashing with Cisco till he can find his own place. Apparently, Barry has been making Cisco breakfast every morning since he moved in and from the look of things, Cisco is not well pleased. He soothes Barry’s feelings by saying he is a great guest but hints that H.R. is not one. “Its not so much so that I don’t like him. It’s just… the way he says things, there’s something about him”.

At CCPD, Captain Singh summoned Barry because his lab roomie Julian had written a 9 violation report on Barry’s behavior. Julian however did not get what he wanted from his little tattletale episode as Singh only gives Barry “fifteen seconds talking to”. Julian calls Barry the “golden boy" of CCPD and stormed off. Did this scene remind anyone else of Harry and Draco?

CCPD has a new crime to solve – stopping the monster that has been terrorizing a part of the city. In a bid to smooth things and become BFFs with Julian, Barry strokes Julian’s ego and offers to shadow him for the day. After offering Julian an irresistible deal by saying if he doesn’t meet Julian’s expectations during his little “internship” (as Julian called it), the latter can have the lab to himself and he (Barry) will take the basement. Julian accepts this offer. After spending half the day with Julian, he soon realizes that Julian not only dislikes him but all metas and The Flash – the Flash because he has made the police force grow lethargic and metas because they don’t use their power for great things. So basically Julian is jealous of metas. If he had their power, he would end poverty, stop wars and bring world peace not rob banks. #JulianforPresident.

The duo soon figure out that the giant monster (which looks to be straight out of a Godzilla movie) is a hologram. Julian finds the perp behind the keyboard and shoots him but Flash was able to catch the bullet and revealed it was a chubby teenager controlling the monster. Julian thanks the Flash for the pretty much saving his career.

Meanwhile Caitlyn is not doing a great job at handling her powers and decides to pay her mother (and renowned scientist) Dr Tannhouser a visit. Her mother turns out to be little help as she is just repeating the series of tests Caitlyn had done on herself. After a sensitive squabble with her mother, Caitlyn decides to leave the lab but her Dr Tannhouser's lab assistant Nigel is having none of it. He says he’s tired of Dr Tannhouser taking credit for all his work but with Caitlyn, he can get the answer to everything. He locks Caitlyn in the lab and tells her she’s going nowhere. Uh hello? She’s a metahuman!

Caitlyn eyes go glassy, she freezes Nigel’s hand and is about to finish him off when her mother steps in, gives a short variation of the “I didn’t raise a killer” speech and Caitlyn regains control.

At STAR Lab, H.R. is all over the place; offering donuts and coffee, generating unhelpful ideas and making weird references to his earth. Cisco is becoming more suspecting of HR so Barry unwilling to fall for the lies of yet another Wells asks Cisco to vibe him. Cisco’s idea of “vibing” is rummaging through H.R.’s stuff like a mere mortal and he finds the pen that doubles as a recorder. As Cisco starts to play the recording, H.R walks in and tells them to finish the recording. He says he is not working an elaborate angle but rather writing a novel called “The Tales of HR Wells”. Cisco to clarify what he heard says “you’re a scientist and a novelist?” and H.R. repeats the words back to him – what he’s been doing the entire day.

We soon discover he is no scientist when he doesn’t know what Cisco means by “triangulate” or how to even operate a computer. Cisco calls him a conman and H.R confesses that he’s just an "Idea guy" and his partner was the executor (his partner was also the one who deciphered the cryptogram). Barry being the soft-hearted-everyone-deserves-a-second-chance kind of guy says the team should let H.R stay for a week or so, see if he’s really full of ideas.

It  really doesn’t take much to infiltrate these folks.

At the end of the day, Julian is bummed that he almost shot a minor, tells Barry not to move to the basement and confesses to Barry that he is just rich kid from England who wants nothing more than to be a scientist. But just before he could rise to the top of his field, metas happened and that made him feel powerless. Barry empathizes with this story and asks Julian to go have drinks with him.

Caitlyn gets a call from her mother saying she couldn’t find out much about her powers but if she keeps using her powers, there will be no reversing it. “You must not use these powers under any circumstances” she says but Caitlyn hears none of it as she has already lost control and is unknowingly freezing the table and its content.

Guess there’s no going back.

Question

Is every Harrison Wells/ new face on The Flash going to have an agenda? Almost every time there's a new regular character, that person turns out to be hiding a huge secret. For all we know, either Julian or DA Cecilia could be Doctor Alchemy.
