Frank
has “the talk” with Laurel
Last episode, we left Laurel after she said “love
you” to Wes and was confronted by Frank. After expressing shock as to what
Frank is doing in her apartment, Frank wants to know if her love for Wes is
brotherly or real love. He tries to guilt trip Laurel for moving on so quickly
but Laurel is mad at him for keeping things from her – not telling her he was
in prison for years and not picking her calls the past months. Frank tries to
make it up to Laurel but she repeats those hurtful words Bonnie had said to
Frank “get out”. Laurel however has to re-invite him to the house when Annalise
says she’ll kill him if he comes to her house and Frank seems quite determined
to get shot.
Wes was summoned early in the day to testify in a
close court that he saw Charles Mahoney at the scene of the crime. Wes suggests
that they buy time by submitting his medical history (which reveals he spent
days in the psych ward) while they try to find Benton’s (Charles' lawyer - witness who is willing
to testify Charles was nowhere near the scene of his father’s death. Annalise
who was pretty much willing to shoot Frank minutes ago suddenly needs his help
in tailing Benton.
Wes
plays the jealous boyfriend
Wes is very displeased that Frank had spent the
night at Laurel’s and he wants to know if anything went down. To this Laurel
half yells “nothing happened” and these two express their worry for another. Isn’t
it a little too soon for Wes to be playing the boyfriend part? How long have
these two been sleeping together? A week?
The
Keating Five are updated
In the spirit of openness, Annalise informs her
babies that Wes has been summoned to court and they will need Frank’s help.
Connor thinks that’s a “crazy” idea and Michaela is far from cooperative and
says she will have nothing to do with helping Wes out. She seems so fixated on
the idea that Wes is a murderer but conveniently forgets that it was her life
Wes was trying to save when he brought down the throphy on Sam’s head – Sam was
trying to throttle her after all. She later tells Asher that she’s not being
“cold”, just “looking out for herself”.
Connor and Bonnie leave the house but Asher refuses
to follow. “Wes needs our help” he says. Asher (like the rest of us) wants to know if the Frank terms
have been updated - “do we like Frank or do we not?” he asks Bonnie.
Hargrove
drama
President Hargrove has found a friend or
shoulder-to-whine-on in Annalise as she summons her to her office to talk about
her husband’s divorce papers. He is filing for sole custody of the kids,
spousal support and is willing to offer Hargrove two supervised visits a month.
Hargrove seems willing to roll over but Annalise gives her a “beast” speech and
tells her to fight for her children. She ends up offering to take up the case
and when Hargrove shows concern, she says “what? You think you can do better?”
Detective/Avenging
Angel Frank
Frank tails Benton and follows her to a nail salon
where a familiar face meets up with Benton. This familiar face (Lisa Cameron)
turns out to be the woman who Frank had sexual relations with and had given him
a briefcase full of money to betray Annalise. Frank goes to Lisa’s home and
there discovers that she has a little girl. He sends the pictures to Bonnie and
Annalise and implies he plans to kill the little girl by saying “an eye for an
eye”. Annalise tells him if he tries anything, she will send the cops over so
Frank just ends up standing creepily in the closet while Lisa tells her
daughter a bedtime story and falls asleep.
After Annalise stares at the picture of Lisa and her
daughter over and over, she suddenly craves alcohol and goes to the mart to
sniff alcohol but ends up buying a bunch of junk food and a burner phone. While
Annalise is at the mart, Bonnie calls Frank and tells him to go back saying
“you were right, this is what she needs”. Luckily, Annalise walks in and save
these two from killing an innocent child by choosing to frame a slightly
innocent man.
Annalise’
latest victim
Annalise’ plan to get Wes off the hook for good
involves Nate – who is unwilling to bend the rules for Annalise but will do so
for Wes. Team Keaton gives the burner phone to Charles in his cell and Frank
calls the cell from Lisa’s home and when Charles picks, he says nothing. On the
day of reckoning, Lisa goes on the stand to say Charles was with her on the
night of his father’s murder but she hasn’t spoken to him since then. The
defendant brings her phone records as evidence and implies that Lisa had called
Charles in prison to corroborate their story.
Lisa’s testimony is thrown out and Charles is
charged with murder – based on a witness’s testimony and his finger print on
the murder weapon. We see Wes trying really hard not to smile in Laurel’s
direction. Does he now take pleasure in the downfall of others? We may have
lost puppy face for good.
Colliver
is done for real. No more pity sex
Connor and Oliver have been hooking up since their
last pity sex. Thomas sent flowers and called severally to apologize for being
a douche to Oliver but Oliver tosses the flower into the bin and refuses to
pick his calls. Oliver wants to know more about what’s going on in the house
and when Connor refuses to tell him, saying he’s just trying to “protect” him,
Oliver gets defensive. He says love is more than just accepting your partner’s
HIV status but about sharing secrets. He says to Connor, he is just a “security
blanket” who Connor runs to when “things get too intense with Annalise” and
that is a “severe messed up emotional damage”. Connor is hurt that Oliver
considers him damaged and walks out. He goes to Michaela for comfort.
Frank
and Annalise heart-to-heart
After Frank put her prized puppy in the cross line
of the police and later saves him, Annalise decides it’s time to give Frank her
ears. But Frank has nothing to say other than its all Sam’s fault. That’s not
good enough for Annalise and she keeps telling Frank he murdered her baby which
is actually messed up because all he did was betray her and unknowingly take
part in the murder of baby but she is actually harboring three real murderers
(Wes, Bonnie and Asher) and has managed to help all three cover up their
crimes. A little like blackboard calling kettle black.
Frank thinks there’s a way to make it up to Annalise
so he brings out his gun, puts it to his temple and says “I love you Annalise”.
Kind of like how people would scream “I love you Damien” and then proceed to
jump to their death. She eggs Frank on and tells him to do it saying its what
she needs but Bonnie butts in and pleads for him not to shoot himself. We don’t
know if Frank shoots himself or not.
Flash
forward
Annalise is in cell telling Bonnie that someone is
talking to the police. When Bonnie says its not her, Annalise says she doesn’t
know if she can keep on fighting. Oliver, Asher and Michaela are at the cell
talking at once to Bonnie. Oliver wants to know why Annalise lied about the
body in the house; Michaela wants to know why everyone was invited to the house
possibly minutes before the fire. They all think its Connor under the sheet but
its not because Connor is too busy giving fellatio to Thomas.
So the men of the Keating Five are accounted for
which leaves Nate, Frank or some other unfortunate soul. Who do you think is
under the sheet?
