Negan pays a visit to Alexandria and someone nearly died.

The episode opened with Rick and Michonne in bed in Alexandria and everything seems normal except that Michonne is sneaking a rifle out of the house and headed to the forest. Spencer and Rosita are about leaving for a scavenge hunt when Negan arrives at the gate, knocks on it with Lucille and says “little piggy, let me in”.

From that moment, everyone is on edge and feeling a little violated (as they should). Negan is offended when Spencer says “who are you” to him but rather than lash out, he kills a walker and calls it a “service”. Negan (to inflict more psychological damage on the fine people of Alexandria, brought Darryl along with him - who looks worse than when we left him in The Cell’ and is still wearing the same dirty sweatpants with what looks like mustard markings on it. Rick tries to make conversation with Darryl but Negan says Darry is the help” and such, should not be spoken to. “You don’t look at him, and I don’t make you chop anything off of him”.

Dwight, who seems to be reveling in his position as Negan’s top officer, takes Rosita’s guns (and cap) and orders her and Spencer to go looking for Darryl’s bike. It’s not enough that he has Darryl, his crossbow, and his jacket – he wants all of it. Spencer and Rosita go in search of Darryl’s bike like good little subjects and they find it where they stashed it. While Spencer goes on and on about how everything is Rick’s fault, Rosita attacks a couple of walkers in hopes of getting a decent weapon off one but all she got is gun with no bullets.

Back at Alexandria, Negan is treating Rick like his little b--ch and asks him to hold Lucille. Negan wants to know where Maggie is and expresses a sort of sexual interest in her now that she’s widowed. While Negan talks about Maggie like a piece of meat, Rick tighten his grip on Lucille like he plans to do something but ends up doing nothing. He and Father Gabriel take Negan to what seemed to be Maggie’s grave – which we later find out is not. Which begs the question; what happens when Negan finds out Maggie is not dead?

Negan and the Saviors are taking almost everything in Alexandria – most of the mattresses, their furniture, and most of the medicine. Carl seems to be the only ballsy person in all of Alexandria as he threatens to shoot one of the Saviors when he takes more than half of the medicine. The warning shot drew Negan’s attention and after admiring Carl’s “giant man-sized balls”, he requests for Carl’s gun and every other gun in Alexandria.

Rick willingly takes him to the store/armory where Olivia is in charge of inventory and there the Saviors cart off all – literally all – the weapons in the armory. But one of Negan’s keen-eyed followers discovers that according to the inventory, they are two handguns short. Negan is not pleased at this and threatens to kill Olivia if the missing guns don’t turn up.

Rick tries to plead with Negan and offers to find the guns – which prove to be a tad difficult. He calls an emergency town meeting in the church and pleads that whoever is with the missing guns should turn them over. The people who seem not to understand the gravity of what’s going on think that Rick has some sort of plan to save them from Negan but Rick clears the hopes right up by saying “I’m not in charge anymore, Negan is”. Way to kill our hopes Rick.

Later, Rick finds the gun (along with some food) stashed in Spencer’s floor and turns it over to Negan. To further prove his submissiveness to Negan (and the viewers), he goes to Michonne and asks her to hand over the rifle she snuck out. (We find out what Michonne was doing in the forest – target practice and she clearly needs more practice). Rick hands over the gun (and the deer Michonne accidentally killed while trying to kill a walker) to a very pleased Negan.  He then asks Negan if Darryl can stay back and Negan says it depends on if Darryl can sway him but Darryl remains silent.

Rosita and Spencer arrive just in time to hand over Darryl’s bike to Dwight before they leave and Dwight tells Darryl he can have his bike back if he just says the words. Still, Darryl says nothing. Negan leaves Rick with a warning “if you don’t have something interesting for us {by our next visit}, someone’s gonna die”. When the gates of Alexandria opens to let them out, Negan sees another walker and does a great “service” by bashing its head in. While Negan is hitting the walker, Rick’s hand tightens on Lucille once more and he really looks like he’s going to do something. But still, he does nothing. And to further rub his lack of balls in his face, Negan asks Rick to say the “two magic words” and when Rick does he says “I slipped my dick down your throat and you thanked me for it”

After Negan leaves, Rick shows that he hasn’t completely lost his balls as he confronts Spencer about his stash and calls him “weak” and “lucky” to be in Alexandria. When Spencer asks if Abraham and Glenn were lucky, Rick says “say it again and I will break your jaw and knock your teeth out”.  Afterwards, Spencer and Rosita have a cryptic conversation and it seems like these two plan to save Alexandria from Negan one way or another.

At the end of the day, The Walking Dead proves to us they haven’t forgotten the dead when Rick talks to Michonne about Shane – his late best friend/partner/wife’s boyfriend. He says he had to accept that his daughter was really Shane’s so he could protect her just the same way he had to accept they work for Negan now so he won’t lose more people and will be alive to teach Judith how to survive. Michonne after hearing this sad tale, promised to try to accept their current situation.

Alexandria is now ripe for the taking with little food, no mattresses, no medicine, a leader who’s given up, a handful of people and an empty gun.

Do you think Alexandria has a fighting chance against Negan and the Saviors?
