The BHH
Lacrosse Team is terrible at Lacrosse. Its about time we accept that.
“Relics” picks off with Chris Argent in the
woods hunting the soul eater – or at least trying to before Mama McCall comes
crashing in. She says she’s tired of watching people she loves wheel pass the
nurse’s station in a gurney so she’s here to help. She seems to be very unaware
that hunting relies on being stealthy as she just keeps yapping on. The duo
come across a clearing of crashed bikes and three dead bodies - right before
someone starts running towards them – a werecoyote – Malia. Knowing that its
Malia racing towards them doesn’t stop Chris from shooting her in the leg
however.
Mason has
found a way to be warned about the arrival of the Ghost Riders – by measuring
storm activity – since the Ghost Riders ride on lightening. His victory is
short-lived however when the numbers on his meter start rising.
Meanwhile,
Scott gives Lydia Jake Sullivan’s library card which was left behind in “Superposition”.
She calls it a “relic; an object with a fixed association to the past”. Scott
views that as a Ghost Rider weakness and says that if they can find a relic
that Stiles left behind, they may find a way to bring back Stiles. That said,
Lydia goes off to find Stiles’ relic in the Stilinski household. One of her
banshee visions appears and tells her the evidence is right in front of her. She
takes that literally and starts to peel off the wallpaper when a very angry
(and still very dead) Claudia Stilinski stops her.
Scott, Liam
and co. have a bigger task ahead – protecting everyone who saw the Ghost Riders
at the party. Mason believes that if they can hide them in a bunker, the earth
will ground the “electrical charge”. But just
how long are these members of Beacon High supposed to stay underground? The
real problem however is convincing them to go underground. Nathan, Team Captain
aspirant thinks Liam is selling him a bulls-it story about “supernatural forces”
trying to “erase” his soul so he can be team captain. Nathan describes the
Ghost Rider as “a man in a hat with a gun”. Mason takes the human approach by
telling Nathan that the man with the gun is coming back to shoot him in the
need. That’s all the motivation Nathan needs.
Gwen on the
other hand is not so easily swayed. She wants to get taken by the Ghost Riders
and there’s nothing her new bodyguard Hayden can do to stop it.
The party
folks of BHH are hiding out at Chris Argent’s bunker but Scott, Liam, Corey and
Mason have to leave when they discover that about four people are missing.
Chris calls Malia in for “babysitting” duty but Malia says she’s not the
babysitting type because “coyotes eat their young”. Chris gives a speech about
how he could have saved his sister Kate from the bloodlust if he had tried
harder and how Malia can stay human by getting “involved”. Malia agrees to the
babysitting role but it doesn’t go so well because when a group of people
decide to stay together, there’s always one idiot who thinks he/she can do
better on their own. And that idiot is Nathan.
Mrs. Martin
learned that her daughter tried to peel off Claudia’s wallpaper and asks her
about it. Lydia says she was looking for a relic Stiles left behind. Natalie feels
Lydia has a “biased perspective” because she is convinced that Stiles exists
and refuses to consider any other option. She asks Lydia to voice her ideas so
she can be the “unbiased perspective”. Whatever Lydia says convinced her
because the two head to the hospital to ask Melissa to show them Claudia’s private
medical files. They check it and find that Claudia had no children but she had "frontotemporal dementia" 10 years ago. Melissa thinks it’s a “miracle” that Claudia is still alive.
Scott, Liam
and Corey have to go on the lacrosse field after all because the missing four
are already there. On the lacrosse field however, they are getting their butts
handed to them. So much so that one starts to wonder if anyone on the team
actually knows how to play lacrosse. Wasn’t Liam once a pro at this stuff? While
they are on the field and everyone is fighting with the other person, Mason
figures out that the Riders are scared of Parrish and requests that he meet
them at the school. So that explains that outrageous scene in “Sundowning”
where Parrish was yelling at the Ghost Rider to get on his knees. Maybe the
producers have always known about this Hellhound/Ghost Riders dynamic but how
do you explain Parrish’s overconfidence and stupidity?
The Ghost
Riders arrive and looks like there’s a whole village of them because there are
about 12 and they have surrounded Scott, Liam, Corey and the missing three –
the last one has already been dragged out of existence. Maybe at this point,
Scott discovered what a terrible idea he had because there’s no way a weak
alpha, a strong beta and a chameleon can fight a ring of Ghost Riders. The
latter ends up taking everyone right in front of their very eyes. Liam managed
to knock one off his horse though. That should count for something.
Parrish,
Mason and Hayden aren’t doing so well either. Mason convinced Parrish that the
Riders are scared of his Hellhound form so he gets all flaming and approaches
one of the Riders. This Rider however doesn’t look to scare easily and shoots
the Hellhound. But rather than dissappear like everyone else, his flames simply
go out. So the flames are protective? Hayden goes into Chimera form and tries
to attack but the Rider dissappears. Are they scared of Hayden too? Or the
Rider simply lost interest?
Chris and
Malia are also not doing well. They found Nathan and he is adamant about
leaving the bunker. He succeeds in doing that but by opening the hatch door, he
broke the mountain ash seal, gets taken and gives a passage for the riders to
come right in. Malia and Chris put up a fight but everyone at the bunker gets
taken too.
Scott (who
saw the Riders even after releasing Corey’s hands) tells Liam that none of what
happened was his fault. But Liam is still distraught and when he goes to the
locker room, Coach uses him as an example. Saying Liam was the only one who
stayed on the field when the storm came – a very heavy storm which Coach
described as “barely a thunderstorm”. Coach says they played “lacrap” not
lacrosse. Liam who is still quite heartbroken about everything reminds Coach
that they “lost everything”. To this Coach says “listen to the despair” and
proceeds to make him Team Captain. This promotion does a lot to raise Liam’s
confidence as he later tells Corey, Mason and Hayden to go home because he has
decided to catch a Ghost Rider. The three however decide not to leave but to
follow their new leader. Looks like Liam has his own pack now. Is he also going
to “rise to the occasion” and become a true alpha?
At the
hospital, Chris has a number of injuries and needs a lot of rest. Lydia tells
Scott and Malia that she was unable to find a relic. This makes the three
believe that maybe there isn't a Stiles and they should focus on what really is –
Ghost Riders. Very unwise of Lydia to dismiss her banshee premonitions.
But we later
see that Stiles did leave a relic. He left Roscoe the Jeep. ROSCOE LIVES!!
Does anyone
have theories on Claudia Stilinski and her role in all these? Plus what is going on with Chris and Melissa? Do they get a couple name? Chrilissa? Melris?
