Not one but two epic kisses. Wyd Jeff?

The Teen Wolf Winter Finale was packed with so many moments that it felt more like a series finale – a final goodbye. At the end of the episode, I found myself asking “what exactly is going to happen in 6B?” We know that the end of the episode, everything is fine and great so there’s no need for a scene by scene recap. Let’s do more of a “this might be important” or “that was utterly ridiculous” recap.

Stiles is back.

Last episode, we left Lydia standing at the end of a tunnel and reaching out to a figure in the dark – a figure she believed to be Stiles. In the Wild Hunt, Stiles can hear Lydia’s voice whispering sweet nonsense into his ears and he’s trying to wade through human traffic to get to her. Lucky for him, he has a father who isn’t catatonic and carries a gun that works in the Wild Hunt.
These two reunite and their reunion is so flat that I’m left wondering. Is this because the centre of this episode is Stydia or they have so much in store for the episode, that they can’t spare 3 minutes for a real father-son reunion?

The Sherriff tells Stiles to go find his friends while he keeps the Riders busy. AND STILES ACTUALLY LEAVES! He seriously left his father to deal with Riders. In what world would Stiles do that? Even Malia wouldn’t do that to her absentee father (refer to “Dad wakeup”).
Also can we talk about the fact that Stiles’ hair is different? Yeah I know he’s filming American Assassin and whatnot but I don’t know that character, I know Stiles and his hair is different! Did he get a haircut in the Wild Hunt or what?

Mr. Douglas is merging the worlds.
At the beginning of the episode, Liam noticed that there were train tracks all over Beacon Hills and they decide to go check it out. Somewhere in Beacon Hills, Stiles is running around looking for his best friend (yeah Lydia’s conjuring worked) and the two finally meet. There’s a cute bro hug but no time to dwell, they have a world to save. The three have to fight off a very controlled Parrish with nitrogen and when he’s cooled down (pun intended), he tells them Mr. Douglas is “merging the worlds so the Ghost Riders cant cross over” so his supernatural army can stay in this world. Parrish also tells them that they can’t stop the merging of the worlds/ the arrival of the train but they can divert the train. To this, I have two questions:

i.                    How come Parrish’s shorts never burn in that rage of fire?
ii.                 What exactly is the use of a supernatural army if everyone else is catatonic? Who exactly would appreciate that kind of power?

Dad wakeup”

Malia and Lydia walk into the BHH Library which is currently doubling as a train station. The two conclude that they have to stop everyone at the library from getting on the train but no one can hear them. So they decide the way to help everyone is to get Peter (who’s also in the train station) to wake up. Not exactly logical but okay. The way for Malia to get into the Wild Hunt is to make a connection so Malia has to say “dad” like she means it.

Peter wakes up and the only thing he’s helping with is getting throttled by a Rider and has to be saved by Malia. I’m wondering how it is that Big Bad Peter can’t overpower a Rider but Theo and Liam have overpowered (and probably killed) more than two. Seeing as Theo is currently still in Beacon Hills, he must have overpowered about five so how is it that Peter is suddenly a weakling when last season he had crazy strength?

The much awaited Stydia kiss

Stiles has been appearing and reappearing all over the place thanks to the merging worlds. When he appears in the ladies locker room, he meets a Rider who has a gun to his head. And who comes to save him other than Lydia who screams the Rider into unconsciousness. She says “I didn’t say it back”, he says “you didn’t have to” and the two have this very hungry kiss. I don’t know about the rest of you Stydia shippers but that didn’t seem romantic or love-y. Thinking of romantic Teen Wolf kisses? Think Scott and Allison.

Another epic kiss.

Remember when we thought Papa Argent and Mama McCall could be dating? Well they’re definitely something thanks to the kiss Mama McCall gave him after that Texas standoff with a Rider. When Chris asks her why she kissed him, she said “that was hot”.
At this point, I’m wondering if there’s going to be a third epic kiss between Scott and Malia because I can’t help but notice Malia has been sidelined in this fairytale episode.

Ghost Riders vs. Scott’s Pack

Scott finally finds how to divert the train but Mr. Douglas is guarding it. Scott ever the optimist says “step back from the diverter or I’ll make you step back”. At this point, I’m excited because I’m thinking “Scott has finally grown into his power” but nope he hasn’t. Malia, newly reformed Theo and a Peter 2.0 join in the fight and they’re almost defeated. Thanks to Malia – or her double’s great stunts, she gets a rope off one of the riders and Scott uses that to pull back the diverter.

Since when does Peter fight with teenagers? The sudden change is a little too much to handle. It’s almost like the show is so concerned about ending on a happy note that its completely changing the characters and what they’re capable of.

Me waiting for Scott to grow into his power

Scott howls to inform Liam (who rode a Rider’s horse into the Hunt) that it’s done. Liam then removes all those tubes from Corey. (To quickly recap; Liam, Hayden and Mason found Corey in the operation room with lots of tubes in his body and figured that he’s the key to merging the worlds). The moment the tubes are removed from Corey, people start to disappear from the Hunt and Douglas’ goons start walking out on him.

Douglas is very hurt and starts yelling at them to come back and says a few Nazi words/incantations. At some point, I thought I heard him say “oh baby”. He tells the Riders to obey him because he’s their leader and they turn back and make him into one of them (as in a Rider) but one with the Captain identifier on his hand.

Just like, the threat is nullified and everyone is back in Beacon Hills.

They graduated!

At the end of the episode, we see our favorite four having their very last class and when school ends, Stiles says it feels “anti-climatic” which is exactly how I feel. Stiles hands over his bat to Mason and his keys to Scott. Everyone but Malia is heading off to college. Again, I’m wondering why Malia is being completely shunned from this story line. Also doesn’t she deserve an explanation from Stiles?

If everything is so fairytale-like, what exactly is in 6B? Rumor is; Dylan O’Brien may not be coming back for 6B.

What did you think about the episode?
