You
gotta give it to Roman; he really knows how to play the part.
Roman is
the star of last night’s episode as the team find him smack in the middle of
that tattoo which was erased from Jane’s body. Patterson (with little help from
Roman) was able to decipher the tattoo which led them to biker gang – Viper Kings.
And right there among their findings is a photo of Roman and Kings’ member Kat
Jarett.
Jane who
is bent on proving her brother’s usefulness and dismissing the diagnosis of Dr Sun
suggests that they show Roman the picture as it may trigger a memory. Her
gamble pays off and Roman remembers purchasing weapons from the Kings. The team
(mostly Jane) is determined to get Shepherd by hook or crook so they resolve
that Jane and Roman will go undercover and try to get the Kings to set a
meeting (trap) for Shepherd.
For someone who wants a “new life”
for her brother, Jane seems pretty eager to throw him right into the lion’s
cage that made him the sociopath he is.
They
both go into the bikers' bar “The Nest” as Roman and Remi and a couple of things go
sideways.
a.
Roman
remembered that he was in a relationship with Kat.
b.
Abel,
the Viper’s leader {who was beating the sheet out of someone when they walked in}
tells the siblings that the only thing Shepherd wants is HMX (high melting
explosives) so Roman promises them the explosives.
Back at
the HQ, the team is little mad at Roman for promising the HMX they didn’t have.
Patterson informs the team that the only way for non-military personnel to get
HMX was to steal it. To this Nas says “so we steal it” and walks out. Kurt runs after her and is questioning her judgment
when she says it’s their only way in and she will load only the top of the
truck with real HMX.
But even a fraction of HMX is too
much explosive and I’m a little worried that Nas is playing for the other team
and wants Shepherd to get her hands on explosives. But I’ve always been
suspicious of
Nas so it might be nothing. Kurt being the softie that he is agreed to go with
Nas’ risky plan.
Roman
and Remi go back to the Kings and tell them of their plan to rob a truck
transporting HMX. Kat and Abel are a little suspicious of the plan but they go
with it anyway because of the extra dollar topping that comes with actually selling
the HMX to Shepherd. They all prepare to ride their bikes and again, I’m a little worried of how confident Roman
actually is. Even more confident undercover than his badass sister “Remi”.
They
divert the van off course quite easily – and it's quite unnerving how in-sync Roman and Kat are. Is this muscle memory again? Because it took
time for Jane to even trust her former fiance Oscar. The tiny hurdle with this fake armed robbery is that
the truck was driven by Weller and Reade – and Abel wants them dead because
they’re witnesses. Jane tries to talk around the issue but it proves futile so efficient
Roman shoots them twice in the chest. The shock on Jane’s face would have
betrayed her cover had the Kings not been eager to get out of there.
The good
news is, Reade and Weller were wearing vests. The not-so-good news is - it
still hurts.
While Jane
is scolding her brother for taking the risk of shooting her friends, Kat and
Abel come by to tell them Shepherd has agreed to the drop. But she doesn’t send
the location until an hour before the meet – paranoid terrorist that she is. Jane
is a little disturbed about how they will plan an ambush when they can’t get
there before their target.
Kat
still has feelings for Roman so it’s no surprise when the two get into a
passionate lip lock. During this intense exchange of saliva, Roman remembers
planning to run away with Kat but not showing up because his sister ordered him
to call it off because she needed him “focused”. Safe to say it was a very
unhealthy relationship between those two.

With this
FBI drama, there’s a little personal drama going on – Kurt’s baby mama (Allie)
is moving to Colorado and he can’t move with her, Freddie’s ex showed up at Reade’s
home looking for Freddie and Reade feels guilty that he can’t help. Also,
Patterson is still hurt that she dated a terrorist and couldn’t see it because she
was blinded by her feelings. In her pain, she also insinuates that Nas is
terrible at her job as she failed to identify the mole even though she had a
bug in the office.
Team Weller
escort Roman and Remi to The Nest to meet with Abel and Kat. There, Kat pulls a
gun on Roman and says she suspects he’s working with the cops because he held
her hands (after they kissed) and he never used to do that”. Jane’s excuse is
that Roman was shot by Shepherd and came back different after treatment but Kat
is not buying it. Roman decides to go the Jane-way and tells her the truth - they
work for the FBI, they are after Shepherd not her and he loves her very much.
This hogwash
clearly works on Kat as she pretends to shoot them and sends her goons to get
rid of the bodies. A couple of things go wrong and Kat ends up shot. Her dying words
to Roman were “I love you”. Immediately she dies, Roman doesn’t even linger for
an extra second which kind of convinced me that he really is incapable of
emotions.
Team Weller
(and a couple more unknown teams) head to the dead drop location but things aren’t
quite right. The building hasn’t been used for about two years. Coupled with
the fact that the van is empty – exempting Abel’s very dead body. The FBI got
played – again.
Back at
the HQ, everyone is convinced that someone must have gotten information to
Sandstorm somehow but no one knows how. In a not-so-shocking turn of events,
Nas breaks up with Kurt because they are both “clouding” each other’s “judgment”
– and she looks so chill about while she’s breaking his heart. Also, Roman
confessed to Jane that he felt “nothing” for Kat and is a little worried that
he might truly be a sociopath. Lucky for him, he has a formerly-psychopathic
sister to reassure him. On a more intimate note, Freddie’s ex showed up at
Reade’s to “apologize” and they both end up getting freaky.
Jane
pays a visit to Weller to keep him company and she tries to help him with work.
She finds Kurt’s military yearbook and a photo of Kurt playing basketball and
trying to dunk one. Right in that picture is Shepherd looking like a proud mama
{throwback to Her
Spy’s Harmed when I crazily theorized that Shepherd was
Weller’s mum}. The unbelievable part comes when Kurt says “I know her”.
WHICH IS
ABSOLUTELY CRAZY! Here’s why:
After Jane
met Shepherd, a sketch artist came by and produced a very close replica of
Shepherd. That sketch must be everywhere around the Headquarters so are we
really to believe that the sketch wasn’t good enough for Weller and sketches don’t
really work? Or that Shepherd performed some kind of voodoo on Weller so he
only recognizes her when he sees a real picture. The jury is definitely out and pondering.
